사우디아라비아에 본사를 둔 세계적인 수도서비스 기업인 알마르 워터 솔루션스(Almar Water Solutions, 이하 알마르 워터)가 컨소시엄 파트너들과 손잡고 글로벌 석유 대기업인 아람코(Aramco)의 주요 프로젝트인 줄루프 정수플랜트(Zuluf Water Treatment Plant) 건설에 대한 착공식을 지난 2월 24일 가졌다고 3월 18일 밝혔다.

줄루프 정수장은 아람코가 발주한 PPP(public private partnership, 공공민간파트너십) 계약약에 따른 첫 번째 정수처리 프로젝트 아웃소싱(outsourcing, 외부하청)이다.

알마르 워터는 정수플랜트의 실행 및 운영을 위해 사우디 그룹 알 조마이 에너지 & 워터(Al Jomaih Energy and Water Company, AEW), 이탈리아 EPC 계약업체 피시아 이탈리피안티(Fisia Italimpanti) 및 미국 펜실베니아에 본사를 둔 글로벌 물 및 공정기술 솔루션 공급업체인 아쿠아텍(Aquatech International)으로 구성된 컨소시엄과 협력하고 있다.

이 프로젝트는 25년 동안의 BOOT(건설·소유·운영 및 이전, build, own, operate and transfer) 모델로 구현되고 있다.

줄루프 정수플랜트가 완공되면 하루 18만5천㎥의 식수 생산이 가능해 사우디아라비아의 지속가능한 물 솔루션에 크게 기여하게 된다.

이날 착공식에는 아람코, 알마르 워터, 알 조마이 에너지 & 워터 및 피시아 이탈리피안티 대표 등이 참석했다. 이 자리에서 각 참여 기업 관계자들은 줄루프 프로젝트에 대한 통찰력과 비전을 공유했다.

참석자들은 행사의 일환으로 줄루프 정수플랜트를 지속가능한 물관리의 표지로 만들 최첨단 기술과 인프라를 보여주며 프로젝트의 발전을 미리 볼 수 있었다. 이번 행사는 유틸리티 프로젝트를 위한 초석을 놓는 것으로 끝이 났다.

알마르 워터 솔류션스(Almar Water Solutions), 알 조마이 에너지 & 워터(AEW) 및 아람코(Aramco) 간의 협력은 즐루프 프로젝트(Zuluf project)를 지원하기 위한 최첨단 수처리 시설 개발을 목표로 하는 전략적 파트너십을 의미한다. 지난 2022년 12월에 체결된 계약은 2023년 3월 중순까지 재정적으로 마무리되었다.

■ 줄루프 정수플랜트(Zuluf water treatment plant)  줄루프 정수플랜트 프로젝트는 사우디 다란(Dhahran)에서 북쪽으로 240km 떨어진 아라비아만에 위치한 줄루프 육상 석유시설 프로젝트를 위한 물 주입을 지원하는 18만5천㎥/일 용량의 정수시설로 구성된다.

25년 BOOT(건설, 소유, 운영 및 이전) 계획에 따라 개발될 4억 달러 규모의 프로젝트에는 설계, 개발, 자금 조달, 건설, 시운전, 운영 및 유지 보수, 소유권 이전 등이 포함된다.

알마르 워터는 지역 노동자를 고용하고 지역 서비스를 조달하며 지역의 경제 및 사회 발전에 기여함으로써 IKTVA 요구사항에 부합하고 운영되는 지역 사회에 전적으로 전념하고 있다.

줄루프 프로젝트는 사우디아라비아에서 알마르 워터의 장기적인 성장 계획의 일부이다. 슈카이크(Shuqaiq) 3단계의 경우 정수처리 능력이 하루 63만5천㎥에 달해 사우디아라비아의 물 시장에서 중요한 역할을 할 것이다.

Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, 18 March 2024. In an event attended by representatives from Aramco, Almar Water Solutions, part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, Al Jomaih Energy & Water, and Fisia Italimpianti, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Zuluf Water Treatment Plant highlighted the advancements of the transformative project in the Arabian Gulf.

Keynote speakers from each participating company shared their insights and visions for the Zuluf project during the ceremony. Symbolizing unity and commitment, a symbolic act took place, including the burial of the foundation stone for the Zuluf Water Treatment Plant. The poignant ceremony highlighted the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in bringing this visionary project to life.

Zuluf water treatment plant

The Zuluf project consists of a water treatment plant with a 185,000 m3/day capacity supporting water injection for the Zuluf Onshore Oil Facilities project, located in the Arabian Gulf, 240 km north of Dhahran.

The $400 million project, which will be developed under a 25-year BOOT (build, own, operate, and transfer) scheme, includes the design, development, financing, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance, and transfer of ownership.
