물과 폐기물 순환 솔루션의 선두주자인 수에즈(SUEZ)와 디지털트윈(digital twin)을 통해 산업현장의 변화를 가속화하는 딥테크 기업인 샘프(SAMP)는 10월 10일∼13일 프랑스 리옹에 열린 환경 솔루션의 벤치마킹 국제행사인 ‘2023 폴루텍(Pollutec 2023) 전시회에서 정수 및 하수 재이용을 위한 디지털화 솔루션을 개발 및 현장에 적용하기로 합의했다고 10월 11일 발표했다. 

디지털 트윈 구축을 가속화하기 위한 파트너십

실제 자산의 가상 모델인 디지털 트윈 솔루션을 통해 상하수도 유틸리티 관리자는 시설을 더 잘 이해하여 유지관리 및 운영을 최적화할 수 있다. 이는 현장 운영을 위태롭게 하는 기상 이변의 횟수와 강도가 증가함에 따라 적응 능력을 강화하기 위한 의사 결정 도구를 제공한다.

2020년에 시작된 샘프와 수에즈 간의 협력을 통해 수에즈 그룹이 운영하는 수십 개의 정수 및 하수처리장에서 초기 파일럿 단계를 수행할 수 있게 되었다. 

양사는 새로운 계약을 통해 수에즈 그룹이 이 기술을 프랑스에서 운영되는 다른 상하수 시설로 확장하고 다른 나라 시장에서의 개발 가능성을 평가할 수 있게 되었다.

수에즈는 디지털 트윈 솔루션에 새로운 기능을 추가하여 인프라 성능 및 자산관리 서비스를 강화하고 있다.

운영 성능을 위한 3D 현실 캡처 및 인공지능

샘프의 ‘공유 현실(Shared Reality)’ 솔루션은 불과 며칠만에 시설의 디지털 트윈, 현장의 정확한 복사본을 생성할 수 있다. 인공지능(rtificial intelligence, AI)과 3D 기술을 활용해 기술 현장 정보(재고, 도면)를 3D 현실 캡처와 연결해 디지털 트윈이 현장변화에 맞춰 지속적으로 진화할 수 있도록 해준다.

운영 팀은 신뢰할 수 있고 상황에 맞는 데이터에 액세스하고 현장에서 작업하기 전에 처리장에서 가상으로 작업할 수 있다. 이러한 디지털화된 환경은 현장의 작업 조건과 안전을 개선하고 최적화된 유지 관리 및 개조 계획을 수행할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다.

이는 식수와 하수 서비스의 일상적인 관리에서 오류와 고장의 위험을 줄여 자산과 환경을 보존하는 데 도움이 된다.

SUEZ and SAMP sign a partnership to improve the resilience of water infrastructure through digital twins

During the POLLUTEC show, SUEZ, leader in circular solutions in water and waste, and SAMP, a deeptech company accelerating the transformation of industrial sites with digital twins, announce the signature of an agreement to develop and deploy a digitalization solution for water and wastewater production facilities operated by the group in France.

A partnership to accelerate digital twin deployment

Digital twin solutions - virtual models of real assets - enable water and wastewater utility managers to gain a better understanding of their facilities to optimize maintenance and operations. 

They provide a decision-making tool to reinforce the ability to adapt to the increasing number and intensity of extreme weather events, which jeopardize the operation of the sites.

Initiated in 2020, the collaboration between SAMP and SUEZ has enabled an initial pilot phase to be carried out on several dozen drinking water and wastewater plants operated by the SUEZ Group.  

The new agreement will allow the Group to extend the deployment of this technology to other water and wastewater facilities operated in France, as well as to assess the potential for development in other markets. 

SUEZ is strengthening its infrastructure performance and asset management offering by adding new capabilities to its digital twin solutions.

3D reality capture and artificial intelligence for operational performance

In just a few days, SAMP’s “Shared Reality” solution can create digital twins of facilities, exact copies of the sites. Relying on artificial intelligence and 3D technology, it links technical site information (inventories, drawings) with their 3D reality capture, enabling the digital twins to evolve continuously in line with changes in the field.

 Operations teams access reliable, contextualized data, and can work virtually on the plants before acting in the field. This digitized environment improves working conditions and safety on site, and offers the opportunity to carry out optimized maintenance and refurbishment plans. 

It reduces the risk of errors and breakdowns in the day-to-day management of water and wastewater services, thus helping to preserve assets and the environment.
