[미국] 수에즈, 미국서 가장 큰 하·폐수재활용 시설 운영 계약 갱신
미국 캘리포니아의 수도공공기관인 웨스트 베이슨 뮤니시펄 워터 디스트릭트(West Basin Municipal Water District)는 수에즈(SUEZ)의 미국 자회사인 수에즈 노스 아메리카(SUEZ North America)와 캘리포니아 엘 세군도(El Segundo)에 위치한 에드워드 C. 리틀 하·폐수 재활용 시설(Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility)과 3개의 처리장을 운영 및 유지 관리하기 위한 계약을 갱신했다. 계약금액은 총 7천500만 달러로 계약기간은 2020년 1월 1일에 시작되어 2024년 말까지 5년이다.
에드워드 C. 리틀(Edward C. Little) 시설은 미국에서 가장 큰 하·폐수 재활용 시설 중 하나로서 매일 약 4천만 갤런의 물을 생산하고 가뭄이 발생하기 쉬운 지역 중 하나에서 수자원을 보존한다. 1994년부터 SUEZ는 West Basin이 2천억 갤런 이상의 재활용수를 생산할 수 있도록 돕고 있다.
이 시설은 West Basin시, 상업 및 산업용수(정원수, 관개, 산업용 보일러 및 냉각탑 공급 및 간접 식수)의 특정 요구를 충족시키기 위해 5가지 품질의 맞춤형 재활용수를 생산하고 있다. Edward C. Little 공장은 또한 남쪽 베이 해안 지하수 저수지를 태평양 해수 침입으로부터 보호하는 대수층 보충을 위해 매일 1천200만 갤런의 방벽 수를 생산한다.

SUEZ Renews The Contract To Operate One Of The Largest Wastewater Recycling Plants In The United States
West Basin Municipal Water District has renewed its contract with SUEZ North America to operate and maintain the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility in El Segundo, CA, and its three satellite plants. The five-year renewal, worth a total of $75 million, began January 1 and runs through the end of 2024.
The Edward C. Little facility is one of the largest water recycling operations of its kind in the United States, producing about 40 million gallons of water every day and conserving water resources in one of the nation’s most drought-prone regions. Since 1994, SUEZ has helped West Basin produce more than 200 billion gallons of recycled water.
The facility produces five different qualities of custom-made recycled water to meet the specific needs of West Basin’s municipal, commercial and industrial customers (garden watering, irrigation, supplying industrial boilers and cooling towers and indirect drinking water). The Edward C. Little plant also produces 12 million gallons of barrier water every day for aquifer replenishment that protects the South Bay coastal groundwater reservoirs from seawater intrusion from the Pacific Ocean.
“For the past twenty-five years, our partnership with the West Basin Municipal Water District has aimed to preserve water resources in order to guarantee the sustainable water supply of this increasingly arid region.
