[싱가포르] 멤시프트, BOO 계약으로 액상 폐기물 처리
싱가포르 스타트업 멤시프트 이노베이션(Memsift Innovations Pte Ltd)이 글로벌 제약사로부터 빌드 셀프 운영(BOO) 서비스 계약을 체결했다.
멤시프트(Memsift)는 자체 소유의 TS-30TM 개선된 멤브레인 증류(IMD) 공정을 사용하여 1,000L/년 액상 폐기물 처리 시스템을 설계, 구축, 소유 및 운영한다. 이 프로젝트는 재활용에 필요한 폐기 비용과 물을 절약하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 예상했다.

멤시프트 창업자인 안토니 프린스(Dr Antony Prince) 박사는 "우리가 알고 있는 바에 따르면, 이것은 막 증류 기술을 위한 세계 최초의 BOO 프로젝트"라고 말했다.
그는 "이번 프로젝트는 제약업계에 진출하는 관문이 될 것이며 우리는 이 프로젝트가 이 지역과 전세계 제약업계의 브라인 트리트먼트와 액화폐물 처리 솔루션에 대한 상업적 관심을 불러 일으킬 것으로 믿는다"고 말했다. 이미 일부 글로벌 주자들과도 논의 중이라고 말했다.
멤시프트는 TS-30TM 시스템이 액체 폐기물을 최대 95%까지 줄이고 처리된 물이 요구조건을 충족시키는 실제 액체 폐기물을 사용하여 wastea 회사와 함께 사례 연구를 수행했다.
멤시프트의 TS-30TM IMD 시스템은 특허 출원 열막 공정을 기반으로 하여 기존의 열 및 압력식 막 공정에 비해 상대적으로 낮은 온도와 압력으로 동작한다.
싱가포르 회사는 수증기는 있지만 액체 형태는 아닌 물을 수 있는 독특한 수소성 중공섬유막(STOMATE)을 시스템에 사용한다.
멤시프트는 그 결과 모든 비휘발성 무기염과 입자가 폐기물 유출물에 남아 깨끗한 물만 막을 통해 회수되어 폐기물 유출물의 부피가 줄어들 것이라고 말한다.

Memsift secures BOO contract to treat pharma liquid waste
Singapore start-up Memsift Innovations Pte Ltd has received a build own operate (BOO) service contract from a global pharmaceutical company.
Memsift will design, build, own and operate a 1 000 000 L/year liquid waste treatment system for the pharma company by using its proprietary TS-30™ Improved Membrane Distillation (IMD) process. The project will help to save the disposal cost and water for recycling.
“Based on our knowledge, this is the world first BOO project for membrane distillation technology,” said Memsift founder Dr Antony Prince.
“This project will be a gateway for us to enter the pharmaceutical industry and we believe this project will bring us more commercial traction for our brine treatment and liquid-waste treatment solutions from the pharmaceutical industries in the region and globally. We are already in discussion with some of the global players in the pharma sector.”
Memsift conducted a case study together with the pharma company using the actual liquid waste where the TS-30™ system reduced the liquid waste volume by up to 95% and the treated water met requirements.
Memsift’s TS-30™ IMD system is based on a patent-pending thermal membrane process that operates at relatively low temperature and pressure compared to the conventional thermal and pressure driven membrane process.
The Singaporean company uses a unique hydrophobic hollow fibre membrane (STOMATE) in the system that allows water in vapour but not in liquid form. Memsift says that as a result, all the non-volatile inorganic salts and particles will remain in the waste effluent and only the clean water will be recovered through the membrane so the volume of the waste effluent will be reduced.
