[인도] 세계 최초 멤브레인 염수처리시설 오픈
영국의 구자라트(Gujarat) 고등판무관인 제프 웨인(Geoff Wain)은 모던 워터(Modern Water)의 모든 멤브레인 염수농축공정(AMBC, All Membrane Brine Concentration process)에 기반한 세계 최초의 염수처리 시설을 개설했다.
이 신설 시설은 주요 국제 화학회사인 인도의 거대 화학기업인 보달 케미칼(Bodal Chemicals)과 세계의 염료 및 염료 중간체 제조업체 중 하나인 기술적으로 어려운 폐수를 처리한다.
이 처리시설은 제로액체배출(ZLD, Zero Liquid Discharge)을 달성하는 염료 제조공정에서 고염분성 유기오염된 유출물 흐름(stream)을 위한 에너지 효율적인 공정의 중요한 부분이다. 즉, 모든 폐수가 처리주기의 끝에서 정화되고 재순환 된다는 것을 의미한다.
이 프로젝트는 산업폐수 시장에 기술적으로 도전적인 인도의 선도기업 중 하나인 어드벤트 엔바이로케어 테크놀러지(Advent Envirocare Technology Pvt Ltd, 이하 Advent)와 인도의 파트너와 함께 Modern Water가 수행했다. Modern Water의 AMBC 공정은 독점적 인 삼투압 및 관련 공정을 기반으로 하므로 ZLD 설비의 비용을 크게 절감 할 수 있다.
Modern Water는 AMBC의 라이센스 및 설계 외에도 전문 장비, 공장 위탁 감독 및 훈련 된 Bodal 운영 직원을 제공했다. 공장은 Advent의 감독 하에 Bodal의 직원에 의해 운영되고 있다.

World’s first brine treatment plant opens in India
JULY 9, 2018 - The British Deputy High Commissioner of Gujarat, Geoff Wain, has opened the world’s first brine treatment plant based on Modern Water’s all membrane brine concentration process (AMBC).
The new plant treats technically challenging wastewater for Indian chemicals giant Bodal Chemicals, a major international chemicals company and one of the world’s leading manufacturer of dyes and dye intermediates. This treatment is a crucial part of an energy-efficient process for a highly saline organic-laden effluent stream from dyes manufacturing operations that achieves zero liquid discharge (ZLD), meaning that all waste water is purified and recycled at the end of the treatment cycle.
The project was undertaken by Modern Water in conjunction with its partner in India, Advent Envirocare Technology Pvt Ltd (Advent), one of India’s leading companies focused on the technically challenging industrial wastewater market. Modern Water’s AMBC process is based on its proprietary forward osmosis and related processes, which significantly reduces the cost of ZLD plants.
In addition to licensing and designing the AMBC, Modern Water also provided specialist equipment, supervised commissioning of the plant ? and trained Bodal’s operations staff. The plant is now being operated by Bodal’s staff under the supervision of Advent.
Simon Humphrey, Modern Water’s CEO, said: ‘We are proud that senior management of Bodal, and the British Deputy High Commissioner have opened this world-first. Our partnership with Advent in India is going from strength to strength and we are working hard to replicate the same model of partnership with credible local players in other countries in order to fully commercialize our water treatment technology.’
Commenting on the project, Soham Mehta, Advent’s CEO said: ‘Innovative energy-saving water treatment technology is needed more and more in India as our environmental regulations become stricter and stricter, often requiring ZLD.
